exterior operable shutters, coastal NC (hurricane country), hope to use battens of cypress (1″ x 4″ x 48″ average), question for you experts – how to ‘finish’? prefer not to paint or stain (wood is just too damn pretty!), what oil to start with? I expect that it will need reapplication every few years, right?

If you like the look of the wood naturally graying you can leave them alone, cypress will take the weather just fine.
I dont know if you apply stain that they wont eventually gray anyhow.
