I was in the Dallas area recently doing bathroom renovations for an old friend, after Blackmon Mooring had gone in and gutted both of them due to mold. (Long story, but there had been signs for a long time that a problem was brewing. Buckled walls in the shower, etc. Don’t worry said hubby for years, then he died and problems got worse, to the bpoint tiles started falling off the wall. While I was prepping the existing studs for the new work, I found remnants of the sheetrock nails sticking out…they had completely rusted through, leaving little tapered shanks behind, looked about the size of staples. ). Anyway, I went to the Mesquite store of Dal-Tile to get some tiles for the project. Here’s the scenario, and yes I have sent a note to the company:
Since I was not a regular customer and my order was not particularly large, I wainted until the contyractors had pretty much cleared out before I approached the counter. It was about 8:30 am Monday morning. Two clerks, one with another customer. Told my jerk-clerk that i needed some tiles, and wanted to be sure they had all the odd pieces in that particular color & style, because I could change colors if needed. He snapped back “You’re the contractor, you tell me what you need” I explained that I wasn’t exactly sure, needed a little advice on a detail, my options were open, etc. He came back with “I just sell this stuff, I’ve never installed it” with a tone and facial expression that said I was bothering him. Young kid, maybe 30. So I left and bought the tiles at a different store. I’m sure my little purchase (about $300 with thinset and grout) won’t affect their bottom line, but his attitude sure affected me.
Do it right, or do it twice.

You were nice..me.....I'd have gotton his supervisor cause I dont have time for arrogance especially when I'm spending hard earned money.
If I heard that anyone that worked for me treated a customer like you were treated I'd wanna know so I could deal with it.

That sucks. My Dal-tile in Cleveland is GREAT.
I hope you got his name. If I have a bad experience, I always try to get the person's name for future reference.
Do me a big favor and write the company a letter. If you don't that guy will keep being a you know what! Plus you owe it to your country to COMPLAIN;-)
I think you should tell the company that all employees should install tile for so many hours. That way they have some concept about what they are selling. Just my two cents and as Andy C. says sometimes, "But what do I know?"

Very effective when used in a sandwich.......like...
"Look AC.....blah(I need) blah(I want) blah(I demand)blah.....Ya AC!"
Works for me.
