Wanting to cement plaster shower walls, I’ve felted behind the lath and have a proper shower pan. I would like to use a dampproofing admix (butyl stearate or the like), what is the proportion water/butyl to use? Any easier to find products? Quikrete acrylic fortifier is available at lowe’s but becuase it wasn’t expressly mentioned in any of the textbooks I have on plastering written in the 1950’s, i don’t know if I can trust it (one half joke). Anyone been down this road?

I just did a Morrocan Plaster shower, here is how I did it:
I applied Kerdi over the drywall substrate, and then I coated the kerdi with a layer of thinset mortar. I applied 3 layers of Morrocan Plaster over the thinset, and once it was fully cured I used olive oil soap to seal the plaster.
I went this route because Tadelakt, as Morrocan Plaster is known here commercially, is available in any color Benjamin Moore paints produces. I selected a color chip I wanted and sent it to these guys:

They also have a large selection of colors they have already matched that are available. They supply the Tadelakt, the color additive and olive soap. They were also extremely informative on how to use the product. Morrocan Plaster has been in use for centuries, specifically in wet use areas. It is able to hold extremely vivid colors, is hard as stone when cured and relatively easy to work with.
