Ray,
There are tables available that tell you the per square foot weight of masonry brick and concrete block. There are several variables needed before your question can be answered:
concrete vs brick
solid vs hollow
Vertical cores grouted (ie, 16" oc, 24" oc, 32" oc 40" oc, 48" oc.)
Wall Thickness
Weight of grout (140 pcf, 105 pcf)
Light wt. vs Medium wt. vs Normal wt.
One table I use is from Fundamentals of Reinforced Masonry Design (Concrete Masonry Association of California and Nevada http://www.cmacn.org/)
The normal volume weight of CMU is 135 pcf.
*Cindy....super post of info....Ray...now you have the tools to answer your questions...Good luck.near the stream,aj
