I have a deck that is built level with the house floor. The rain runs in the house under the door. I have caulked and sealed the door but it still leaks. Is there any way to stop this leak without tearing the deck up? I would appreciate any suggestion.

Run a skillsaw along doorsill set deep enough to cut thru the decking. This will allow water to drip through before reaching the sill.

*Whatever solution you arrive at, bew sure that it includes getting the water away from the house. In a 1 inch rain, about 1.4 gallons of H20 will land on each square foot of surface. That adds up quickly and you don't want it against or even near your house and foundation.
*It sounds to me like maybe the door should be removed, the structure beneath it checked for any water damage, and then the door properly reinstalled.Reinstallation should include proper flashing and sealing before setting the door unit back into the opening. One other option would be to raise the door unit so treated lumber can be installed under it. You can probably check to see if this is an option by carefully removing the head casing from the interior of the door jamb and seeing how much space there is between the jamb and the framing above.
*How about a roof over the porch? Cool and shady in summer. No need to shovel snow off it in winter. Not to mention the current problem...
*Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I have called another carpenter and he says the door is properly installed -- but it still leaks. I think Piffins right a roof will solve the problem. Thanks again.
*"the door was properly installed and it still leaks"......one question...Is this the same guy who installed the door?
*Jerry,I think you may be on to something here. He does live down the street and was a friend of the old owner.
