Does anyone know what the 2003 ICC code requirement is for separation of footings for a deck from the sides of a septic tank?
I have heard that it is 10 feet, which could be a problem for me. Are there any footing types or deck construction techniques that could alleviate the setback.

I don't know that particular code but here, the setback is ten feet from a tank or other part of the system to a foundation that creates a capsule space. The concern is that if a leak ocours, gasses - dangerous and/or explosive - could end up contained within the building.
This does not affect pier foundations or porch posts in our area
