It’s time to plan a deck for the house this spring & I have several ideas floating in my head about how I want this project to look. My question is…are there any good software programs out there for designing decks that don’t cost over $1000, yet still offer flexibility in design, material lists (maybe) and 2D & 3D capabilities?
I tend to be visual, and would like to see how everything relates…it’s just that I’ve got several versions of this deck & I’m guessing my other half has several more. I think it’s a real good bet that the winning design will come from one of her choices too, so I’d like to make sure we’re on the same page design-wise.
Any thoughts or critiques of the software available out there would be much appreciated.

You might try a Google for free online deck design. Weyerhouser uused to have an online one that you could use for free, but they pulled it in. I can imagine there might be some liability for a thing like that

AutoCAD is probably overkill, but since I've moved over to it, I'd be happy to GIVE you the POS deck design software I've had kicking around here. It's called DeckBot by some company called Bighammer. Never used it. Pretty sure it won't do curves. But hey, what do want for nothing? E-mail your address and it's all yours.
