I was just wondering what everyone’s favorite method is for fastening wooden decks is. I am laying a deck with 5/4″ mahogany. I have used those deck master brackets, which are 22″ long and screw to the joist and then screw into deck board from underneath. I found that when the boards dried and shrank, the screws loosened up and the deck would start squeaking. I was wondering about using a plug cutter so I could surface screw, but hide the screw heads. Can I use some sort of adhesive under board to reduce squeaking. Appreciate your feedback

Adhesives really are not good in this type of situation.
I prefer to surface screw deck boards down, and make sure they are straight for a nice pattern.
