Deck Girder at Corner Posts Connection
OK, I need the end all answer. We dado the deck girder 2-3″into the BACK side of the vertical deck posts and then lag it through. We do a lot of log vertical posts and want the log to be continuous in front of the girder, not broken by the girder. It works great on the interior posts, but when we get to the corner we only get half the bearing on each directions girder, plus a difficult angled lag. What are your tips and tricks to help me clean this up? Thanks for your help and experience. Derek

Any time we do something like that we opt for a metal saddle that gets anchored into the pier .It is more costly and I dont know your pier configurations yet taking a big chunk out of the inside of your log post is time consuming as well.Im sure with some details an engineer type could steer you right.anyhow we wind up pouring the pier top square for attachment.Sorry to waste your time Im checking in on some gurus answering my blurb as well.Good luck
