Anyone happen to know what the maximum allowable clearance is for a 4 x 4 deck post to a wall with vinyl siding? These posts will be sleeved with trex deck posts. With the post sleeved and capped it looks like it’s going to be 4 inches. They do not specify this in any of the deck guides. Can’t seem to find any info online. I would like to leave as much as possible for the future, replacement siding etc.

I believe the clearance is exactly what determines any other part of the railing: a 4” sphere should be unable to pass through any gap in a railing system.
I've read that in DCA 6 guide but wasn't sure. I assumed 4 inches. Sounds about right. Thanks
