deck railing staining

Need to stainseal a wood deck and railings. The deck I will roll but my question is what will be the fastest way to stain/seal the 2X2 pickets and 2X4 railings without making a mess of the brick columns? There is about 80ft of railing and about a dozen columns to avoid. THANKS

    Mask the brick off with plastic
    Brush the stain on
