I want to decorate my master bedroom in what I call “Sari” fabrics and decor. I want a Bhuddist feel but a feel of a woman Sari as well. My husband and I actually found a wonderful quilt from India, it is made of rayon and is many colors in the saffron, red and purple shades and many Sari patterns I have seen on womens Sari dressess.
But now I am stuck with trying to find a paint color and other fabrics/colors from which to make draperies. I have searched the internet for ideas and have found none. We so have a Shaker style 4 poster bed with a square canopy so I could also drape fabric from this as well.
Any suggestions or ideas on internet links would be appreciated.

katesmith - I've found a lot of wonderful sari scarves at the Little India here in Toronto - as well as in my closest Goodwill. It's been a treasure trove.
There was an episode of Debbie Travis' Painted House where she made an enclosure out of multi-coloured sari scarves that was just extraordinary. If I can wangle some more on-line time here later this weekend, I'll try to track it down for you.
ahhhhh, just noted the bed info. I've got a four-poster pencil post with canopy as well. I took some matching cotton fabric for a couple of my sari scarves - sewed stabilizing bands across one end - and attached tab top bows. The sari scarves are great bed draperies in the summer.
here's another idea for a window treatment with sari fabric
