I just purchased a home. I am on a tight budget and will begin to gut the kitchen soon. on one wall I want to put floor cabinets all the way across, however, one window in the middle of the wall is only a few feet up from the floor. If anyone has any creative ideas on how we could use this space and make it functional without removing the window, I would appreciate it. Thanks for your help.

what is "a few feet"?? 2 feet? 6 feet? big (wide) window or narrow window? pretty window or ugly window? makes a lot of difference in what you can do or would want to do with the space... could be talking about incorporating some kind of breakfast nook/window seat idea, or maybe a little bar sink, or a low counter for kneading bread, or a short table for the kids to play at... hard to offer anything more without some more information about the room... photos? sketches? details?
The window is 2 feet off the ground, about 4' tall and 2' wide
How high is the wall? You could have a shelf or cabinet below the sill and put a shelf above. Or, if you might want to grow herbs, you could put wire shelves between the cabinets on either side of the window and place the potted plants on them. It doesn't need to be looked at as wasted space. Make it into a feature of the room.

I've seen shallower base cabinets installed in front of a window, with a copper sheet lining the "well" that is created and plants put in place..something that doesn't need a whole lot of water..
Or you can install a glass door island wall cabinet there and let the light shine on thru..
I will try and post a picture sometime soon....You'll understand better when you see how small this damn space is. Thanks for your help
Using stock upper cabinets set on a built toe kick to match the rest of the run. Countertop to match the rest.A great place for Information, Comraderie, and a sucker punch.

How about making it a window seat??? I have seen them in kitchens before...
JG,
What kind of siding is on this house? Because, structurally, raising a window is a piece of cake.

PS: Is that "JG" as in "LT"? st
