I normally work as a superintendent/lead carpenter, but have done some design and plans in the past. Now, my parents have asked me to do a set of plans for their new addition that will be submitted to the city for permit and construction and I would like to draw them with my computer. I have experience with AutoCad, but do not have a current copy. I have been using Google Sketch-Up for most stuff at work, but I don’t think it will work for a full set of plans. Chief Architect is way too expensive. So……
Where should I spend my money? What are some recommendations for a capable home design program that wont break the bank? I know you guys/girls out there that use this stuff everyday can point me in the right direction.
