Detectin flow in a copper pipe – non-invasive!

At one point in my home’s plumbing life, a stoned Laguna Beach plumber (I suspect!) ran a bunch of sub slab copper pipes from a entry point. Some of these pipes I have been able to make redundant, but there are still a few in the salb which I’d like to remove, however, I cannot tell which one goes where ….
Any brilliant ideas on how I can tell which pipe is which? I don’t want to spend a large sum on it – i’ve already built a repalcemnt line, but I don’twant to leave a pipe in the slab to slowly tempt a leak …..
I’ve tried the stick to the pipe routine with no real success …. but I’m a bit deaf anyhow ….

With the right equipment you can run an electrical current through the pipe (if it's metal) and detect it with a special detector. It's not particularly sophisticated -- the hard part is finding an old "telephone pickup" for the sensor.
