Dose anyone own the Dewalt DW 625 router? I’m looking to possible pick it up for use in my router table, but wanted to get some opinions first. This router would be dedicated for the table; I’ve got a Porter Cable for free hand stuff.

Any other heavy duty routers you would recommend? I’m looking for one that can run large bits for raised panels.

Trev,
I would use a big brute fixed base router like the PC 7518 or the Milwaukee 5625 for dedicated use in a router table, I personally have the PC 7518 and have heard glowing reviews for the Milwaukee, the 5625 electronic speed control is supposed to be much better than the PC. Much easier to adjust the height of the bit with a fixed base vs. a plunger..
Good luck
Trev,
I have that router and it's great! But in my (Bench Dog) router table I use a big PC because of the hassles of adjusting the bit height with a big plunge router.
Trev,
I have the DW625 and love it, just not for a router table. I used it in my Bench Dog router table a few times and went out and bought the Dewalt fixed base router. As others have said, depth adjustments in the table were a pain with a plunge. The 625's somewhat goofy on/off switch was a hassle too in the table. A simple toggle switch is much better for a table.

Dennis
Trev,
I use mine in a table. It was my first router so I wanted something BIG. My second router was a D handle PC, it was too small for use with larger bits ! Then bought the table
and blah,blah
It is a pain to adjust the Dewalt, and If you decide to use it in a table remember to take the big springs out , It will be much easier to use if you do. It is fun trying to resist springs that are pushing down against that motor while you are trying to push up
I did have one problem with mine this year, it wouldn't run, and I had too take out and disassemble the switch to make it work again. ( it was full of dust) but it has been in the table for about 6 years and the switch was repairable if you like that kind of info.
