I have been wanting to say that title ever since being honored by making the final cut to the Top17. I feel the best trim carpenters didnt even enter this competition. In my career as a farmer turned trim carpenter turned curved stair builder….I have seen some phenomanal work. In my small area of expertise…curved stairways….I have mentioned here of going on excursions to big cities such as Chicago or Indianapolis…and go look at the MEGA homes where top craftsmanship is demanded. I have seen curved stairways that I thought GOD himself has built. It makes me come back to my little stairshop feeling pressed down…but still proud…and then the catalyst inside me gets going and I try to compete against my ownself as at that time thats the only one I can beat!
Anyway….my honest opinion..there are many that could of and should of been in my shoes taking my place as a Top17 finalist. But…you have to enter to win her….so here I am enjoying this contest…and even though I am presently high in the leaderboards…I am not letting this go to my head….there are MANY that should be in my place and me sitting out there and voting.
I am very proud to be in this group…and there are several worthy projects to consider voting for. Just kindly go over to www.dewalt.com/top17 and view this group I am proud to be part of….and vote for your favorite.

Stan - contest has refused my votes for past 4 days, now when I click on your picture, up pops one of the other contestent's face.I hope you are voting my votes??? This is strange!

Mac, refresh your browser when that happens (hit F5). If that does not work close your browser windows and, assuming you are using a windows machine, under internet options (start, control panel will get you there), delete your temporary internet files. Go back to delwalts site and you should be able to vote for Stan no problem.
Not sure I understand this contest. You can vote multiple times? You can enter votes using other people's email addresses?
You can vote three times a day. Dewalt has no system in place to verify the e-mail addresses that are being used, so you could just make up an e-mail address and password to vote.
It is a very poorly thought out process, and to Stans credit, he has gone to great lengths on this board to request that people only vote using their real accounts.
The site itself is very buggy and has some issues. I have encountered several different types of voting anomalies throughout the process. I continue to vote each day because Stan has earned my respect though his work and actions, and I beleive his is truly the best representation of top notch trim carpentry.
While the contest itself is flawed, Stan chose to enter and has kept the breatime community involved throughout the process. I beleive we owe it to him to vote our conscience, whether we agree with the contest in concept or not.

Not only do they not verify email address' - they apparantly don't even require you log in in some cases. I tried registering the first day of the voting so I could log in and vote and kept getting proxy errors so I gave up. I went back the next day and tried to vote just for s&g's and it worked. Been voting every day since and still have never logged in.

Thanks, Mike - I tried this (deleted cookies, etc.) still not permitting my votes. Nice of you to join us.
Mac, if you did delete the files, and did the refresh - try this. Go to the screen giving you problems, and from their hit member login. It will start a new page. Re-enter your login, hit the word home from that logged in screen (small fine print in upper right), click on the contest pop up, and click on Stan from there - try that.
Other than that try Firefox maybe?
Huh.
You got help right from the top.
If anyone knows how to vote over there it's him. ;)
mhole - no such luck, I followed his advice and still can't vote. I think Stan beats me to the vote each day??- but he sent me a note earlier saying my password didn't work for him either.
Stan, when will they announce the winner?
