Does anyone have experience with the Dewalt tracksaw? I am trying to decide between the tracksaw and the festool model.
I have a large reception desk to build probly at this point out of melamine.
I am looking at either the TS 55 or the Dewalt tracksaw 120v model.
I would pick up a 100+ inch guiderail to rip sheet stock as well as the shorter one supplied with each saw. I love the look and reputation of the TS 55 but the Tracksaw has a router adapter that would allow me to use my routers.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I have the festool
and got it after becoming familiar with tracksaws with the EZGuide.
Dino had a router attachment for his guide.
I can only assume, so does Festool............but that I don't know.
Stan Foster bacame familiar with it after winning the Dewalt Contest.
I assume the Festool is better and you get !0% off for another cpl of days I think...
I paid for but haven't received yet...the DW cordless tracksaw. I only bought it because I squeezed just under the rope when it was on sale for moments for just under 3 Benjamins. I'm pretty certain the FT is better but for under $300 for the cordless DW I don't think I could go wrong.
I'll letcha know how it is after it arrives. Should be here within a week.
Festool is nice
I have access to Festool equipment and I must say it is nice.. If you go that route remember you're buying into a "system" and the tools and accessories in that system are inter-changable and expandable. And the inventions that the designers and engineers keep coming up with continue to make light work out of the most mundane and tedious jobs. I haven't worked with the Dewalt so I can't comment on it.
Ok guys I am going to dissapoint you,
I went with the 12 A 120v Dewalt tracksaw for various reasons. Festool is the cream of the crop, but it is pricey. I have a short window to get ready to build this desk and while Festool is 10% off, the vac and saw package was backordered. I would have probly had to buy a Festool router to work with the adapter and guide. I would have had to buy the 106 inch guide rail. Even If I didn't want the package, the saw was still backordered.
I bought the Dewalt tracksaw kit with the 59 inch and 102 inch rail. the t square adapter. The Proctractor guide and the clamps.
Honestly after looking at the Dewalt site, It will serve my purpose, and Ill be able to cut sheet goods by myself.
I still need the router adapter that I am going to order locally. The Dewalt router adapter says that it will work with all dewalt and PC routers. I have five pc routers.
I have a shop vac.
Festool is tempting and we will see how the dewalt saw performs.
No disappointment here
Best of luck using your purchase on this project and many more to come.
Thanks
Lemmie know how you like it. My cordless DW Tracksaw came in the mail just yesterday :)
Soon as I'm done drywalling I'll look for a project to use the saw for.
Just last week I could have used it for a quicky desk I made from a sheet of 3/4" oak ply.
Just moved to this house and there's no 220 line to hook my table saw up to yet and my contractor Rigid saw is a pain to cut big sheet goods on.
I had HD make the cuts on their panel saw. I think they were happy to do it cuz they were standing around with not much else to do....but still..woulda been a perfect job for the tracksaw.
Maybe I need another desk...hmmmm
I was worried the cordless wouldn't be powerful enough but it does seem pretty powerful. I thought it was gonna be flimsy from some of the videos I saw b/4 I bought it but it seems well made and solid.
Under $300 for the kit seemed like a steal to me!! Doesn't have the 102" track...just the 59" but still...another $80 will get me the large track when I need it....oh yeh and $20 for the connector
Good luck with yours.
Let me know how you like it.
