About a year ago I used a Dialectric Union on both copper pipes when I installed a new water heater.
I looked at it today and I see corrosion on the copper fitting next to the union.
Did I do something wrong?

Few people understand it. Nobody agrees what it is, how to learn about it, or who's responsible for it. It has never been more important

Did you wipe the joint after you soldered it? Excess flux will cause corrision.
It is acid after all.
I don't think I cleaned it up like I should have. I was probably hurrying.Thank you.
Must be your own house right? I rush through home project too. Ahhh i'll do it right later, it'll hold for now. :>)
If you used a water soluable flux, they corrode faster than the non water soluable ones do.
& generally it will be green with a white exterior after a long period of time.
If you're really worried you can do an ohm check across the fitting.
