I have noticed diamond stucco lath installed two different ways. Both had the long side horizontal, but which way is “up” since there does seem be a slight difference or does it really matter ? Thanks !

Way I was taught to do it is to orient it so part of the lath forms little half moon "ledges" or "cups" which help hold the mud. For the lath I use, that's actually long ways vertical.
Maybe I was taught wrong, but that's how I was taught and that's how I do it.
