I need some advice from the pros. I am attempting to install a French drain system in my basement and would like to use a diamond tipped sawblade on a standard circular saw to cut through or at the very least score deeply, a concrete floor approximately two inches thick at the most. I am trying to avoid the aggravation of renting a specialty saw as I cannot complete the job straight through. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you.

That will work. I bought a cheapo blade from Harbour freight that cut about a hundred yards an inch deep. The job was so dirty I borrowed somebody elses saw, though. I've seen cheap diamond blades at HD.
*b TVMDCI've used a diamond blade several times in my Mag 77 but only when I had a garden hose to trickle water into the cut. It also helps to use a 2x4 as a cutting guide since it only takes about 3 seconds to lose sight of your cut line. Probably a good idea to run your saw through a GFI when using water!
*Probably not a good idea to use water at all, unless you do rent a tool designed for it. You can get blades designed to be used dry in a standard circular saw. But I would borrow or rent a circular saw--wouldn't want mine breathing the tons of abrasive dust you're going to kick up--and don't breathe it yourself, either!
