Why is it that Bosch discontinued making its inline jigsaw ( B4050 )? I bought one back around year 2000 or so, and found it invaluable, not to mention rugged. It’s great for precision work, close quarter work, and rugged enough to do occasional sawzall stuff. After daily usage, and 2 rebuilds, my saw is finally kaput. If I had known they were going off the market, I would have bought 5 of them. I’m wondering how many woodwrights out therre feel the same way I do…..perhaps a letter writing campaign would succeed in getting them back on the market. Failing that, if any reader knows of one for sale, please let me know. Slainte, Murph

Few people understand it. Nobody agrees what it is, how to learn about it, or who's responsible for it. It has never been more important

when you say inline, do you mean they stopped making the barrel grip saw?
No....it was like a mini "sawzall"....I had always wanted to grab one for cabinet work....never got around to it though.J. D. Reynolds

oh... I know what you're talking about now.
thanks for the description.
I think that I have seen one of the European companies (Festool or Metabo) have something in a similar configurations. Don't know if it has the a similar function as the Bosch or not.
still plenty of air driven ones

Makita still makes one:

Thanks for the input, guys..........I kind of locked on to the idea of replacing the saw with an exact clone, and forgot that there were other options out there. : ) Slainte, murph
I am also heartbroken that one of my fav tools is discontinued. I've had mine worked on several times. It's a 95 model. The bosch rep said they can keep fixing them. I got about another ten years to work.......doubt they can coax that kina life out of it. Are you getting yours fixed by a bosch service center?
Allen.........my old company in CT sent it out for repairs ( along with any other personal tools that went south on company time ) and I need to find out where. I moved to upstate NY, and I need to investigate the repair shops in this area. The last repair cost something like $95, I was told. Slainte, Murph
Close but not really. I've owned the Bosch for some time and it's awsome. Put the 101AO( Same reverse ones I use in my jigsaw to cope with.) blades in it and you can do anything. The Makita is close but just not as nice a tool.
Guys are always offering to buy mine from me. Got it from Tool Crib of the North before they turned the site over to Amazon.
