For all you guys that have had the nightmare of trying to get accoustical seal ( the black stuff with the guarantee to get on you) off your skin…here’s one worth a prize.
I’ve heard a few rememdies in the past, DW -40 works pretty good. Then you have to get that off your skin though. anyway – wasn’t even using it, just picked up the open tube..and sure enough next thing I know it’s all over my arm. I’m thinking man this stuff is sticky…need something else more sticky to get it off….yeah that’s the ticket. ‘course what else is around when the black stuff is being used – Tuck Tape! I pull off a piece and start rolling it on my arm…HOLY CARP! pulls it right off. I have some smeared heavily onto my finger…apply the tape…off it comes.. within seconds I get every bit off, including all that is smeared onto the hairs on my arm! I swear – it was like magic!

Tuck tape is tha bomb... it also works well for pulling out invisible slivers of metal, wood, or fiberglass. The US people won't know what it is (I think it's a Canadian product), but it can be described as the über-sticky tape that you use to bind vapor barrier poly to whatever.
Scott.
Always remember those first immortal words that Adam said to Eve, “You’d better stand back, I don’t know how big this thing’s going to get.”
BTW... don't get carried away with this stuff. It sticks to anything and lasts forever. I once used it to fasten a tarp to a stored camper... big mistake. I took many hours of solvent and elbow grease to remove the residue.Scott.Always remember those first immortal words that Adam said to Eve, “You’d better stand back, I don’t know how big this thing’s going to get.”
yeah...once you allow it to adhere, the tape peals off leaving the adheasive behind, the colour of red. View Image View Image
Alrightythen,
I tried to send you an e-mail, but it bounced back. I'd like to communicate with you to ask you a few questions about your tuck-tape tip. Please contact me if you get a chance.

Tuck Tape?? Is that related to "Duct" or "Duck" Tape? Never heard of it before.
Jim
it is the red tape that is specifically used for taping up vapour barrier poly.
it is also commonly used to tape up broken tail lights on cars. ( that are red)
it is sorta semi transparent and has a thick celophane feel to it, similar to packing tape. ( which might work as well) it is quite sticky, but really it is once the tape is applied and for lack of better term " cured" that the tape is hard to remove. usually pieces of the tape and glue get left behind.
anyway, it worked great, actually incredibly well in removing accoustical seal.

Thanks, now I am up to speed with a new tape. I haven't had the chance to see much house wrap, I did help a friend with his construction but he had already put the wrap on by that time.
Jim
View ImageIt is also commonly used for taping Tyvek.
