Hi-don’t know if anyone can help me but I thought I’d give it a shot anyway-a small problem with a dishwasher hookup. For some reason, water is shooting out the the vent and on to the counter and sink. I followed installation instructions (twice so far) seeking advice from the plumbing guys at the local hardware but it keeps happening .They said something must be broken or stopped up on the vent piece and sold me another one but it still happens. The dishwasher is older and I needed to replace the hose- It had a 1/2″ and I used a 5/8″. Could this be such a difference in how fast the water comes out and cause this to push out the vent? This is such a simple (or should have been) job and I’ve done it before on another place. Any clues you all can give me would be appreciated. thanks…….

Try reversing the hoses.
Have never seen a DW vent in my city of 400,000
Did you knock the plug out of the disposal drail? Been to a few of those calls.
1) Knock-out plug in the disposal port not knocked out.
2) Hoses backwards on air gap.
3) Trash plugging the hose from air gap to disposal (or perhaps trash in the air gap itself).
4) Then little nozzle in the air gap has gotten knocked sideways slightly -- bend it so that it points straight at the drain opening.
