Good Morning –
1940’s home. Helping a neighbor wire up replacement disposal and new instant HWH for kitchen sink. Disposal and dishwasher are fed by 12/3 BX. I installed duplex outlet in JB (in basement on ceiling joist directly below kitchen) and powered outlet with disposal leg of 12/3. Outlet will be used for plug wiring from instant HWH which we fed to basement JB via 1-1/4″ hole in bottom of sinkbase cabinet.
BX wiring to old disposal is not in good shape at disposal end and there is not much slack, if any, to renew. What’s the best type of wire to use to power the disposal?
Thanks

Unless code prohibits it (some do), it's best if the disposal is corded and plugged in to a switched outlet under the sink. This provides a reliable "disconnect means" and simplifies servicing the disposal.
