I’ve read with joy all the dmix threads…
Now were almost ready to finish the drywall, and my partner has a texture sprayer.
Rather than texture the walls with diluted mud like normal, we’re thinking of mixing in a little primer and plaster of paris and spray away, troweling things flat as we go..
The main idea is to get a great finish, but the dmix recipe sounds like it might be a step in the primer direction as well, and a bit more sturdy.
Anyone tried spraying dmix or similar?

Hi Brian.
Where is the job?

Dino - we're in western MD. I just moved my friend back from the Seattle area where most drywall is textured, so he owns the Graco setup. We're building 2 houses, and like the Dmix idea for flat "plaster" like walls.
We both agree most of the walls where the seams and screw holes are mudded have a different texture than the paper on the rock, which can look terrible in the wrong light. I don't want the orange peel or knocked down finish either- I'd like to trowel it all smooth.
So my house is the guinea pig, his is next summer, and we're gonna play with mud.
Treat every person you meet like you will know them the rest of your life - you just might!
Brian. MD is ok for my Fiat.
Let me know when and where.
Can we have a d-mix convention there?
Time to do some real work.

A trade rag I just got has an ad for something called 'Tuff Hide', which looks like it might be what you want. I can dig out the info for you if you like. Essentially it's a high-solids primer to be sprayed, and they say it can be left exposed if you want a white ceiling.
