Hey guys,
Do any of your friends ever abuse your knowldege by asking all about construstion or for help with a project they’re doing for the great pay rate of a pizza or a few beers?
It never ceases to amaze me how a lot of people I know will call and ask me for information on large scale things like residing their house or how to build cabinets so they can try to do it themselves. Small things don’t bother me like if someone asked about installing a deadbolt that has them confused but when folks want to pick my brain or have me come over to show them how to do a major project just so they can save some money by not hiring someone like you or I, it kind of bothers me.
I’m a very generous guy (too generous the wifey says) but why do folks think our knowledge and experience is fair game for pro bono work yet I would never call any of the professional folks I know and ask for free help. Its like me asking a cop I know to come by my house during his off day and wear his uniform and drive his patrol car and keep an eye on my house.
