Do you prime pvc pipe in central vacuum systems?
Well like the title says, I’m installing a central vac in my house and have seen instructions saying both…prime and donmt prime. Some say you do it just like plumbing pipe others say it over softens the thin wall tubing and can cause problems. Any advice is appreciated as always.

I'd probably skip the primer. I don't think it will cause a problem.
Didn't prime ours; no issues to report. Unless there is a lot of dirt and moisture around, I usually skip the primer.
But on the other hand, wouldn't the solvents in the primer evaporate eventually, leaving the pipe hard again?
From what I read they say the primer can soften the pipe to the point that some of the plastic pushes up the fitting forming a ring of plastic inside the fitting at the end of the pipe causing a possible snag point for the dust. i am just so used to priming pipe in plumbing and electric it seems odd to not do it. The glue can even says if the pipe is being used under high pressure you have to prime. That makes me think priming gives a better seal/bond. if you use it o clean the pipe and let it dry fully before gluing I would think you'd get the best of both worlds. Thanx guys.
