One of the things I think is true about bein’ self employed is that virtually ALL my decisions are pretty important…if I invest an hour on this or that, what is the potential for gain? There are very few hours, much less days, that I don’t have to make a pretty serious choice about how, or if, I should do something…a bid, or maybe a faster technique.
I think the intensity of making these decisions on a regular basis leaks out into other areas of my life and I find myself really enjoying the hour I take for reading, or yakkin’ online, or snoozing in the hammock, or watching my daughters play ball, or whatever. I think of this as “living a heightened existance”. I think I would really miss the intensity if I were ever to go back to bein’ an “employee”.
