Hello,
I posted a request for information on how to get around the UBC requirement of a 3′ landing either side of an exterior door last Nov. Thanks for the responses. I submitted drawings showing construction and attachment details, was told they were in review but never got a yes or no (I called numerous times). Had my final inspection yesterday and the door came up. Now I have to meet with the Building Official thurs. to try to convince him that the 6′ inswing french door I installed on a second floor addition, with a 42″ high railing with 2x balusters 5″ oc, mounted directly to the siding (no landing), is actually a window. I know it’s done all the time but I am getting resistance from the building department. Anyone ever put together a proposal for this that flew?
Thanks, again,
Mark
