You all been helpful before, so got a problem….
I’m installing four 3/0x6/8 french single lite doors in a 12′ opening (protected by an over-hanging deck). The plan is to have one door always the operable in the four (xxox), with the others hinging , bi-fold style, to open for the 12′ access to the garden for “indoor/outdoor parties”. I’ve installed heavy duty hinges and Rexton-type hardware commercially, but I’m wondering if there are other options. What I have to do is hang two 3/0x6/8 doors hanging from both sides that swing clear and smooth when necessary, with one always operable. My customer is very demanding and insistent about these variable options. Thanks for any suggestions.

Don't have the answer, but I naturally wonder about the possibility of bi-fold hardware, including track and wheels for vertical support. You lose the ability to swing one door like a standard door, but otherwise a door hinged to a door hinged seems like a lot of stress on those hinges at the jamb.
I would recommend consulting with your door manufacturer before making a final decision.
At any rate, if its what the HO demands, you should probably have them sign a waiver. Unless you feel confident enough to warranty it, which it doesn't sound like from the tone of your post!
Forget trying to slap together a hardware solution for this- the client will never be happy, and you'll be miserable with the callbacks. Look for Nanawall- they make complete systems that do what you're talking about.

I worked for a company years ago installing SKYTECH folding glass walls. amazing hardware. tight seal.
very cool. you might be able to google it.
SOMEPLACE, possible a Tauton Windows and Doors book which is a reprint of FHB articles, seen a double hinged door for such an application.
You have 4 panels, 1,2,3 & 4.
1 & 4 are hinged to the casing as normal.
2 is hinged to #1 and 3 to #4. Slide bolts will lock 1, 3, & 4 in place and #2 will be the normally operationg.
Might require some ofset hinges and/or slightly different width panels so that you get maximum opening.
Also Johonson Brothers has Bifold hardware that will allow the door to open flat against the wall. It is for interior use, but I thing that you put weather strip the outside.
Do the doors all have to be weathertight when closed? I don't know of any way to weatherstrip or gasket doors that operate in accordian-fashion.
I have four heavy cherry doors that close off a laundry closet, that all accordion to one side. Each door panel has a single trolley that runs in the overhead track, and is hinged to the adjacent slab, hinges alternating in direction from leaf to leaf. But there is no track at the floor . . . the doors just hang.
