Skim-coating with joint compound covers texture, renews old drywall and plaster, and leaves smooth surfaces ready to paint.

If, for some reason things dont work with Zak, I'd love it. Just lost my Douglas trim hammer.
Kind of late advice now, but I ended up sanding down my handle a little bit ( making it more narrow). Felt a lot better in my hand.

Looks like it's a done deal with zak, but I'll keep you in mind.
I thought of shaping the handle more, but I like my Estwing enough, so I didn't bother. Just thought it would be too much work.
