for once it looks like packing up the wife and kids is going to be easier than packing up the tools.120000 homes tobe built before 2016 and exactly where the wife wants to be,Britain…Wow! cost of tools three times my Canadain cost, as well, nails and sawblades ,trust me Ive done the math. And now ive learnt that the saw Ive used for seventeen years isnt available over seas. Here in the great white north our carpenters industry wide use the american made Skil, worm driven, leftsided blade 14amp saw.Oh sure we do use others that have the same features as noted above. But take note they are all leftside blade mounts. Now during resurching overseas I discovered they dont have these Left mount saws,And the power source to plug into is 240volts rather than our standard 120volts.Recent legislation overseas has governed that jobsite power supply are tobe stepped down to 120volts for trades to work with.Does that mean if I plug my saw in with a new receptical it will work ?Secondly if I was to use a regular step down would I be able to use the saw with regular outlets other than in jobsites? By the way the sawblades over seas dont have diamond shape punch outs.

Dewalt in Britain is big. But the range of tools is not the same as in the US (look at http://www.DEwalt.co.uk ). 110 volt tools can be used on job sites but most of the outlets are temps of one type or another, note also 50hz AC. 240 volt sockets are not for "building" use (after sales use only) Saw blades are expensive comparied with US prices. Most screw heads are "Pozidrive" and not "phillps" Screw driver bits. Very little wood is used in building houses. Masonary is the standard, concrete tile for the roofs, basements are rare, overall house size is less for the same money. Petrol is $5.00 a US gallon. Just got back and the little Ka I used cost $45 to fill. (approx 10 Gal tank. (http://www.ford.co.uk/ie/ka/-/- ) If you have to get a motor then get Diesel and driving on the left is easy so don't worry about that.
