I am remodeling an old bathroom and am in a ponder over what to do about the vent system. I am moving all the fixtures..tub , toilet , sink. The existing plumbing is on another wall now and goes under the floor to a basement. So I can either revent into existing plumbing ( which is kind of a pain) or I can tie into the cast iron under the floor and rely on the 3 inch vent that is already in place. Will I have trouble with drain flow? I don’t want to do a shortcut , but I also don’t want to go to the extra work if it is not necessary.
Thanks!

Donald, as a general rule a vent should start up within 36" of a drain/waste trap. Not knowing your local code, your guestion would be hard to answer.
Go to this site's home page and look under books and videos. Click on plumbing and wiring.
Plumbing Code Check is worth every penny of the $16.95.
If you want to do it right yourself, buy the book. Cutting corners now may mean you have to hire a plumber later.
good luck
*Thanks Dave; Yeah I checked it out and the same rule appplies here. I called my plumber (who moved on me!) and he walked me thru the operation so I should be in good shape now. Don
