While doing some carpentry work for a homeowner he asked me to take a look at his wetbar bar. The wetbar was installed after the house was built by the previous owner. The problem is that the sinks won’t drain. I found that the two sink drains are tied together and run staight into the pvc drain in the wall…no P trap. Someone had forced the PVC drain (going into the wall) down to make the sink drain connection, making the PVC pipe an uphill run. I thought this would be any easy fix…I raised the bar 2,3/4″ to give me a straight shot into the wall. I released the PVC and wedged it up so it sloped downward. The PVC passes through a finished 2X4 wall. I hooked up the drains and turned on the water. Thought I was home free till the tubs started to fill. Could the drain not be vented correctly. Maybe I could run a cable trough just to make sure there isn’t some junk. The homeowner had a pro-plumber out and he said he would have to tear out the wall to fix the problem. Any ideas. These sink drains have never worked. Thanks Keedman

Few people understand it. Nobody agrees what it is, how to learn about it, or who's responsible for it. It has never been more important

One you see something screwed up like that and it "never worked" then EVERTYTHING is up for grabs.
Lack of venting?
Line clogged up with reverse split.
Line goes in to the wall a short distancce and is capped.
Line leaked after it was finished and rather than have to tear into the walls they plugged the line.
.
A-holes. Hey every group has to have one. And I have been elected to be the one. I should make that my tagline.
"Line goes in to the wall a short distancce and is capped."I am always amazed at how often I see something like this.I'll get to that later - this cap will take care of it for now...or glued into a Y that faces the wrong way....

I would have to tear apart the wall to fix it myself.

I think you 're probably right. This thing is plugged tight. I haven't run a snake thru it but I suspect I would hit a stop a few feet in. I think the original homeowner had them stub-in the plumbing and when he decided to put in the bar someone forgot to check down the line to make sure all was clear. Thanks, Keedman
No need to run a cable thru it, bar sinks should have no hair, grease or anything else to plug it up.
If it drains real slow and there is a slip fitting "T" in the wall, the horizontal pipe may be pushed in so deep that it hits the back of the "T" and plug it up.
Also, just shine a light into the pipe and you may see a white test cap.
A bar sink can have bottle caps, corks, labels...On PVC, there is a stop to prevent pipe from entering fitting too far.but with HO performance anything is possible - which is why it is necessary to know what was done by opening wall up.
