I am looking for ideas on what to use for drip & rake edge when crown moulding is used. I do not want to hide the tops of the mouldings with regular aluminum drip edge. On all old tearoffs where wood shingles were used, there has always been rot. There is approx. 400 feet of drip/rake, the pitch is mostly 12 with the dormers somewhat less, there will be no gutters.

you can run a seperate piece of trim on top of the crown.. like a 1/2 x 1/2 and then use regular drip edge..
or you can extend the 1/2 cdx roof sheathing over the crown.. paint the edge before you use the regular drip edge
you can also spend some extra time gluing membrane or ice&water to the top of the crown so no water can get behind it..
but..
i'd rather hide a little detail and get the full effect and protection of the dripedge to protect my crown and paint job....
