They want a side entry garage but get too many confused answers about them. Maybe there’s someone here who actually knows.
I was told by a friend-builder that 10-12′ radius of the inside edge is enough; then an architect said a minimum of 25′ radius of the inside edge. Lastly, we heard from a paving contractor that anything less than 40′ will require a lot of maneuvering to get in and out of the garage.
It’s a 40′ side yard, but it will require a retaining wall if I try to use it all. Without a wall I can probably get 30′ – maybe a tad more.
But the cost of all that paving is wasteful, both in cash and landscaping areas, if I can get by with less.
There will be an 18′ wide door. I think that needs to be factored into the equation. Any expert want to share his ideas with me? Thanks.
