Oy, veh. Here we go again. Search, there are lots of CAD threads here. The only piece of advice I'll repeat is, don't cheap out on buying a program. You'll spend more time learning and using CAD than you can possibly imagine. Even if you spend three grand on a top of the line program, it's peanuts compared with the time you'll invest.

Chris,
I wouldn't pop for a multi-thousand dollar CAD until I tried the FREE DeltaCad program. Download the trial package at their site, deltacad.com, it's complete except for printing and it times out after a month.
There's a complete tutorial under the help menu and I learned to use it very quickly by just following the tutorial, step-by-step.
I've been using DeltaCad for all kinds of work, including some professional drawings for electronics firms. It's strictly 2D, but has all the bells and whistles you'll need for rendering any 2D drawing.
If you like it, and want the CD installation disk, the full version is only FIFTY BUCKS!
Best regards,
Don
ps.
I don't have anything to do with the company.

Thanks for the advice on DeltaCad, I'll chech it out. I didn't feel that I really needed a full blown Cad program, nor the cost......this sounds more like what I would use/need.
Thanks again!
Chris
