My authority having jurisdiction, also know as Katy, doesn’t want drywall in our new house that is under construction. I found a couple of products that are similar to drywall but are made from magnesium oxides. Anyone use these products?

For what reasons? Environmental concerns?
Plaster?
she doesn't want drywall finish or wallboard products
Wow, looks like one of those great products that cost three times as much and only available on one side of the country... the one you are not on!
I'm a little suspicios when Dragon Board says "No energy is consumed in manufacturing DRAGONBOARD." That is a copy-paste from their web site.
Neither place has a dealer locator.

Look, just send me to my drawer. This whole talking-to-you thing is like double punishment.
"No energy is consumed in manufacturing DRAGONBOARD."Maybe they mean no NET consumption of energy. Perhaps the machinery is run by electricity generated from radioactivity coming off the DragonBoard material. :)BruceT
If you could describe what the supposed problem with gypsum drywall is we'd be in a better position to comment on alternatives.
I've seen wheatboard installed on walls before, in a batten board style. It was stained and had a unique look.

Yikes, that must have been an expensive house, around here 4x8' Wheatboard is between $150-200/sheet! I've found that Advantech/HomeAdvantage looks very similar to a lot of the 'green' sheet products when polyurethaned. Plus it's about 10x cheaper, and probably even greener than the green boards. I'm convinced that eventually all the greenies will fall in love with OSB, especially when it's the cheapest, greenest, non-formaldehyde sheet product available in every big box.Z
It was actually a Kaiser medical building, and the board they were using was a Kaiser building product.
I had no idea it could cost so much. There is a Japanese product that is similar also that I saved a link to, http://www.kireiusa.com/pdfs/KirWht_SpecSheet_Aug08_F.pdf
Someone posted pictures here of a finished osb floor, it looked pretty cool. Mike

Might be easier (and better off) finding a replacement for Katy.
Panneling & accoustic tiles on ceiling for retro look
Barn board on walls for country look
Tin ceilings & plywood on walls stained & varnished for nut job look
Seen all the above one place or another
I'd want the fire protection of drywall. I'd cover the drywall with whatever the final finish.
A La Carte Government funding... the real democracy.
I've considered using rock lathe and plaster in certain areas of my own home. But if my DW demanded something like that, I'd tell her that I'd install the rock lathe and that she should be ready to grab a hawk and a trowel, load up and get started. And she should hire a hod carrier too.
The reason that drywall is so popular is the price of gypsum, near nothing, and its ease of application.
As someone else said, if you tell us what it is about drywall that Katy objects to, we can probably come up with some good alternatives, as well as the difference in cost/sqft. That last part will probably make "good old drywall" seem like a long lost brother, when you total up the extra expenses.
In your location I`d use moose hinds.lol
