My client has a condo unit in a turn of the century high rise. The ceilings are a 3 coat plaster on metal lath which is hung from steel trusses. She wants to drywall over a couple of especially bad ceilings. The ceilings are sound and stable so I don’t have to worry about the extra weight of the drywall. The problem is how to attach to it. Of course I would glue it but I don’t have any ideas on an efficient way to fasten it mechanically.
Also, furring it out is not an option because of the plaster crown moldings.
I’ll be using 1/4″ drywall and fastening directly to the plaster.
