I am new to this. Please bear with me. I am wanting to finish my basement. I have steel post in the middle of the room that I was wanting to to make square by drywalling. I was also was wanting to have an outlet on each square post.
I saw these plastic triangles (a cut out of a half circle in each triangle) that snapped around a round post that made at square. At that point you could screw the drywall into the plastic frames, run the wire down & put in an outlet.
I have gone all over looking for something this this (Home Depot, Lowes). They all say there is no such thing.
Can anyone point me in the right direction where I could get something like this or any other ideas that woul dhelp me?
Thank you.

I think it is still impossible to make a square out of a triangle, but I'll try.
Can't ya just frame 4 corner posts?

Why not make a few squares from 2 by and use a hole saw of the same diameter as the column, then saw them across the diagonal? You could then screw them together at the corners and use some construction adhesive if needed. Add some furring strips to screw the drywall to, corner bead and mud it up. You can make the boxes whatever size you want so if you want outlets and dimmers, light switches, or volume controls, have at it.

I've seen those too...
the two RT angle triangles faced together on the hypothenous make the square....
slick....
drywall wholesaler / supplier and not the BB's....
then again you can stand next to something or have it in yur hand at the big box and it won't help...

Actually, you don't absolutely need triangles, you can use two L shaped pieces, with the inside square equal to the diameter of the pole. The triangles would be stronger at the corners between the screws since there's more material. If PL is used, the screws don't need to be too tight, however. These could be made with a saber saw in minutes. Easy to fine tune, too.

Ive done it .
I dont how big your post actually is and you dont mention it , but the priciple will be the same .
I had a 4 inch post or maybe smaller. I took two 2x6s , constuction adhesive , and three clamps. I set the 2bys over night . I came back and dressed the sides of the 2 bys with plywood and screws . I then drywalled it to match .
You can attach the 2 bys with self tapping screws after drilling a pilot.
