What is the rule of thumb on figuring buckets of compound to number of sheets. I am figuring a job of 66 sheets with ceilings.

I dunno...depends,,,how much corner beading ya doing? I'd buy 5 buckets and run back to HD for more if I need it...Six pounds of mud from a bucket per 100 sq ft of DW

There isn't one.
If there was, it would more likely be based on number of corners more than on number of sheets, since that is where more of the mud goes.
Unless you are also skim coating it.
And a seasoned taper will use half as much mud as a guy who doesn't know how much to order because of inexperience.
Order five buckets and see how it goes.

I usually figure one bucket per 10 sheets, but I'm no pro and generally sling far more mud than a pro would. Since you're asking the question, I'm assuming you're not a pro either, so you can either grab 5 buckets as the guys above mentioned and run the risk of having to make another trip to the store, or grab 7 and possibly have to return some.
If it was me, I'd grab 7- everyone needs a spare bucket of mud handing around the house- it's like the perfect stepstool.....lol.
