i want to run my own ductwork but have no idea how to size it. does anyone know a good website or book to help me figure it out. i was going to have several companies bid the job and then just base it on the information i get, but (no offense to the hvac guys) the more i research and read the more it seems most hvac companies are not taking the time to properly calculate ductwork.
thanks for any help.

Never as simple or as easy as it sounds.
No wonder they're not doing the engineering when folks like you make them do all the design work and then steal their work without paying them.

I'm sure that the supplier you buy the duct and fittings from will be happy to size and lay it out for you. But, don't be surprised if they charge you up front and then credit you back when you purchase the materials.
