In doing drywall, once you put on your primer. If you notice you missed a flaw, can you fill in the flaw with mud on top of the primer or do you have to use a spackling compound. Will dura-bond or easy sand bond properly to the primer???
thanks

Absolutely, I do it all the time. In fact, sometimes when I have to repair plaster, I'll prime it first just to give the compound a better surface to adhere to.
thanks
Mud it again. Might be a good idea to re-prime any big areas.

Reprime every area that gets new mud. I learned the hard way that the uniform gloss finish is very dependent on having exatly the same layer under it. I can spot every place where I fixed a spot but didn't prime it before I painted.Rebuilding my home in Cypress, CA

Dude, Durabond will stick to anything.
dura dna/or easy sand.
I prefer easy sand for most jobs.
my painter likes durabond.
but our usual schedule ... when possible ... me or the drywall guys mud ...
and when we "think" it's good ... the painter primes.
then ... I check it all out again.
and spot coat with the easy sand.
painter then comes back and spot primes ... then top coats everything.
I like doing this ... as the primer will hide some stuff ... and magnify some stuff.
better to find out what is what before the final top coat.

If skimming over paint with a mud that will soften with water you'll sometimes get bubbles (mud pulls away from first painted surface) when additional paint is put over the thin section. Putting the first coat of primer or paint on very thin and allowing the mud to dry completely can helps with this, as does solvent based primer. I'll spray a thin coat, let it dry completely and spray a normal coat.
Good skimming!
