I have replaced stem washers 1000 times and this never happened before. On this job there was flaws in the manufacture of a stem. Both hot and cold faucets leaked water at the stem where some packing usally prevents. this happens while showering. When I took both stems to the plumbing supply they recognized that there was a new one with a rubber o ring on each one. After replacing these two the customer complains of scalding at times. Any one have answer to this one? Larry

a suggestion from a carpenter, I'am guessing there is a piece of debris on the cold side, floats around most of the time, clogs now and then, so, I'd pull out both stems, flush the main valve body. I also put the stopper in place, justs so you could see what may have come out . Or is someone else in the home using a fixture at the same time?? good Luck Jim J
