Have an opportunity to get at a good price – I think ($90 cdn). Happen to need to drill a lot of holes into concrete – several neighbors in a deck “co-op”. Being a bit (well, maybe a whole lot of a tool freak) I started looking at options to the standard 1/2″ portable or hammer drill. Looked at the archives ref sds, etc. Given the price, it looks like a good opportunity to add to my tools but it would be nice if it were more than a one job wonder.
Questions
1. Given it is an “sds” I imagine that it is a hole driller for concrete only? Or, what else? (as far as I could tell there was no mode switch for rotary drilling, chiseling, etc)
2. It is used and I don’t know the history. I have determined that it works – in the sense that the motor turns and it would come with a 30 day warranty. Is there a quick way to find out if the rotary hammer action works (vs simply a rotary-only)?
3. Any comments on the tool make, model, robustness, etc?
Thanks for your thoughts.

Probably not the best horse in the barn for overall use.
