I’m back.
This relates to the master suite project my parents have going in our new home. Remember that one?
The laborers for the GC buried the DWV in concrete with little or no gravel on the top side of the pipe. So of course they ran out of concrete shy of filling the trench. I have two questions:
Should I make them tear it out based on the lack of gravel fill on the top side of the pipe?
Should I make them tear it out based on the need to now pour 1/2 – 2″ of concrete on top of the stuff they’ve already poured?
My gut tells me that the pipe can’t expand or shift, and any change in the slab is going to rupture the pipe. In addition, I was always taught to mechanically key two separate pours and never try and laminate a thin pour over existing slab like that. Or perhaps I should just leave it be?
Thanks Kids!
