Easy Q: 2X4 ok instead of 2X6 for bathroom wall (not wet)?
I want to begin framing in a basement bathroom today. Plumbing is roughed in within the slab, so within its walls I’ll be running only water lines. Probably PEX, but the rest of the house is copper so not positive yet. I guess I’ll run these PEX through holes in the studs or cut out sections in front of them. 2×4 will give sufficient thickness for code, right? I know with heavy drain or vent plumbing you need a 2X6. Thanks!

The wall thickness will be fine. I would not recommend notching out the studs for the supply lines, just drill through the middle of the studs as you mentioned. That way you do not have to be concerned with a drywall screw piercing the pipe. BTW, I use metal studs for all of my basement remodels; just my preference.
If you are concerned about the possibility of penetrating piping, use those protection plates (can't recall their name) where the plumbing passes through the stud so you don't inadvertently pierce the piping.
