I have one and use it for fluting. The micro adjustment is a nice touch but the fence on my 3 1/4 hp Hitachi came with one in the box.
Everythings extra with PC.
I paid double that price 10 yrs ago for that edge guide. Its heavy, but its stable. Easy to add a leg for big circles.
I'd recommend it.

Thanks,
I can't do much about PC's tendency to add
a charge for every thing, just trying to find the best
Guide for my 690.
That cheap one they sell drives me nuts. I was wondering if their
was another alternative.
Ken likes it too!
and I guarantee your router will not tip over with the edge guide attached!"Perfect is the enemy of Good." Morrison
Who the heck cares if it's heavy? It's not really, and besides any extra weight would seem to come in handy.I had one and it is rock solid and easy to adapt to any other router.Had mine set up for the Dewalt routers.JT
I'm not very concerned with weight myself, but it could make
it more unstable when your working on edge.
It can be frustrating working in the field trying to keep
everything stable and not tip the router into the work.
An offset base will help in that regard.
True, it's another thing to carry around tho.
I have one that was thrown in as part of the PC 690vs kit fixed/plunge. I think it's a dandy edge guide, a bit heavy, yes, but the micro adjust is very good. I usually use it with a thick offset base that I got from Pat Warner. I also have some sticks set up to turn it into a circle jig.
I have two for two different PC's.
They work well the micro adjust is terrific.
I added hardwood peices to the face of the fence to make a broader guide surface.

Thanks,
I'm ordering it today.
I use it all the time. I have one for each of my PC routers. They work just fine...big, yeah. But not too big. Works for me.
