ELASTO-DECK 5001 – can you prime?
@@@
We are doing a polyurethane deck coating using Pacific Polymer’s Elasto-Deck 5001. Anyone use this stuff?
The ply of the deck has been in the weather for some months. We sanded it back heavily to remove the gray wood and give it some tooth. Where there was Tyvek, it trapped water and was worse than the exposed wood.
Looking for a way to protect the ply for some months. Though about Typar (sic). Don’t want to paint the ply. The base coat likes fresh bare wood.
Wondering what would happen if we put down a base coat of ED as soon as the deck was built. What happens when we do a second layer of base over it some months later? Will they bond OK?

Best way to find this sort of info is to contact the manufacturer.
